COLEGIO SAN JERONIMO
First building with a rectorate of the University of Santiago de Compostela to accommodate poor students
Built in the 17th century, the first building has a beautiful 15th century portal with many Romanesque reminiscences. In the middle of the archivolt you can see the Virgin Mary with the Child Jesus in her arms, surrounded by numerous saints. The college was originally founded by Archbishop Alonso III of Fonseca to accommodate poor students. His coat of arms can be seen on the main façade. Since the 1980s, the building has housed the rectorate of the University of Santiago de Compostela.
