PRAZA DA QUINTANA
Place of Santiago de Compostela ideal to admire the very sober and well-paced arcades
Built on the former cemetery of the city, this square is a famous place of student life. It is bordered to the south by the old house of the Chapter (Casa de la Canonica), whose very sober and rhythmic arcades can be admired. On the wing, the Monastery of San Pelayo has austere walls decorated with windows barred with magnificent old grills. It contains a convent of enclosure, famous throughout the city for the delicious madeleines and lemon pebbles made by the nuns (on sale at the entrance, behind the ticket office).
