IGLESIA DE SAN JULIÁN
Monument of neoclassical Galician architecture, with vaulted naves, presenting the remains of an old Romanesque church
Dedicated to the patron saint of the city (celebrated on 7 January), it is a monument of Galician neoclassical architecture, built in 1765 on the remains of an old Romanesque church, under the direction of Julián Sánchez Bort, engineer and naval architect. It was elevated to the rank of concathedral in 1959. Its particularity is that its interior has a Greek cross plan, with naves with cylindrical vaults and side chapels. It is flanked by two granite towers, each with four openings.
