TOWER OF HERCULA
Lighthouse classified as a World Heritage Site with a staircase of 235 steps and a panoramic balcony
Emblematic of A Coruña, the lighthouse is classified as a World Heritage Site and is the only Roman lighthouse in the world still in operation. Built in the 2nd century, it is actually enclosed in an 18th century shell. The original structure can be visited from the inside by climbing the 235 steps that lead to a panoramic balcony, 106 m high. The lighthouse, located on a site beaten by storms but enhanced by modern sculptures of Celtic inspiration, has been the subject of a restoration that has uncovered Roman ruins.
