SANTUARIO DE LA VIRGEN PEREGRINA
Sanctuary of neoclassical style declared historical and artistic monument in 1982, one of the symbols of the city of Pontevedra
This neoclassical (late 18th century) sanctuary stands on the Praza da Peregrina on a semicircular plan, known as the scallop shell. Declared a Historical and Artistic Monument in 1982, it is one of the symbols of the city, being dedicated to the patron saint of the province of Pontevedra and of the Portuguese Way of Saint James. Legend has it that she guided the pilgrims from Baiona to the Holy City. At night, the stained glass windows of the sanctuary sparkle with a strange magic.
