HIPPODROME DE PHU THO
The hippodrome, the only one in the country, was built by the French in 1900. In February 1968, at the Têt offensive, Tho Tho racetrack was one of the main challenges at the Battle of Saigon. Subsequently, the government had made it a temporary reception centre where thousands of refugees were piling. Today, it has become the meeting of the thousands of gamblers who came to run horses mounted by jockeys of years. The hippodrome reopened at the end of 2005, with daily races, before again interrupting its activities on 31 May 2011, by decision of the municipal authorities.
