Inaugurated on October 31, 2010, this gigantic tower features an astonishing helipad cantilevered 190 m above sea level.

The tower was inaugurated on October 31, 2010. It has 68 floors and a height of 264 m. Designed by Colombian-born architect Carlos Zapata, it cost $270 million to build. The tower rests on 75 m-deep concrete piles. "The architects were inspired by plant elements, woven and assembled. Particular attention was paid to preserving Vietnamese building culture, i.e. the assembly of natural materials. The building is based on cylinders which are then wrapped in a glass skin manufactured in Europe. This wall is screen-printed to provide solar protection. The second side of the double-glazed unit is covered with the white silk-screen print, while the third side receives the solar protection. There are two types of glass: corrugated glass used at the "edges" of the tower, and straight glass that connects them. The curvature follows the 4 m and 12 m diameter cylinders" (AREP extract). The graceful tower is supposed to be inspired by the lotus. It features a cantilevered helipad at an altitude of 190 m. The 49th floor is open to the public: the Saigon Skydeck is a platform offering a superb panorama of Saigon. The Eon Heli Bar on the 52nd floor offered an even more spectacular view, but has now closed its doors... At night, the illuminated tower looks like a cobra's head over the city.
