In Soc Trang (Mekong delta), hundreds of thousands of spectators come to watch the traditional dugout races.
In Soc Trang, in the Mekong Delta. Ook Om Boc means "eating young pounded sticky rice". This Khmer community festival, dedicated to the genie of the moon, is held after the main harvest and when the tide reaches its highest level of the year. It is at this time that the famous traditional dugout races take place. They attract hundreds of thousands of spectators (difficult to find a hotel room!) even from neighboring Cambodia.
