KH'LEANG PAGODA
This pagoda, one of the oldest in the province, has been rebuilt several times.
This pagoda is one of the oldest in the province. The original wooden building dates back to 1532 (under the reign of King Ang Chan). It has been rebuilt several times. The architecture of the pagoda clearly belongs to the Khmer style. In the sanctuary built in 1918 is preserved a document relating the source of the geonym Soc Trang, as well as the history of the construction of the pagoda. Soc Trang comes from the Khmer Srosk Khleng, transformed by the Vietnamese into Soc Khalang and then Soc Trang. Hinayana Buddhism is practiced there.
