HOUSE OF MR. HUYNH THUY LE
The owner's house was designated a National Historic Site in 2010.
The home of the owner who inspired the character of the rich Chinese man in Marguerite Duras' novel L'Amant (Prix Goncourt 1984) remained inaccessible to the public for a long time. In 2010, the authorities finally classified the house as a "national historic site". However, only the main building has been preserved, with its wooden altar of Chinese ancestors. The owner, Mr. Huynh Thuy Le (1906-1972), who inspired the novel, is buried in the Sa Dec cemetery.
