KONTUM PRISON
This listed prison is a fine example of French expertise in prison architecture.
This prison offers a fine example of the French know-how in prison architecture. Intended for the reception of Vietnamese rebels and revolutionaries opposed to French colonialism, it was subsequently taken over by the authorities of the Republic of Vietnam, who blocked Communist opponents there. The prison was classified as a historic monument in 1975, but has deteriorated enormously over time: there is now only a stele, a small museum and the eight graves of revolutionary fighters.
