THU BON RIVER
You can take a boat trip along the river to discover the pretty villages that line Hôi An's surroundings.
The river rises on Mount Ngoc Linh (Quang Nam province), the highest point of the Truong Son mountain range, at 2,600 meters. It flows into the sea at Cua Dai. The Cham attributed sacred virtues to the Thu Bon river, which also inspired Vietnamese poets. It's a delight to hire a boat and cruise along the river, discovering the pretty villages that line its banks. Longer excursions can take you as far as the Cham site of My Son or the ancient city of Tra Kiêu (all day).
