The first Catholic church built in Thua Thiên Huê province was that of Phuong Duc, in the 17th century. In central Hué, two cathedrals were built in the early 1960s. Phu Cam Cathedral (Nhà tho chinh toa Phu Cam) in the Phuoc Vinh district, which is also the seat of the Hué archdiocese. The Church of the Redeemer of Huê (Nhà Tho Dong Chua Cuu The Huê), also known as the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
