One of the steles dates back to 1703 (24th year of the reign of Chinh Hoa of the Lê dynasty) and allows historians to pinpoint the exact location of the victory over the Mongols at Dông Bô Dâu, on January 21, 1258. The statue of Buddha seated on the back of a reclining king symbolizes the submission of temporal power. In the garden, a stupa built in memory of the venerable Thich Quang Duc, who set himself on fire in Saigon in June 1963.
