TEMPLE BACH MA (TEMPLE OF THE WHITE HORSE)
Temple built by King Ly Thai Tô to thank the white horse that led him to the site of the battle against the Mongols.
Legend has it that King Ly Thai Tô, who reigned in the 11th century on the outskirts of Hanoi, dreamt of seeing a white horse. This horse had come to take him away at night in his citadel to lead him to the site of the battle against the Mongols. Once this battle was fought, the horse came again to fetch the king and took him to the site that was to become the new capital, Thang Long. To thank him, the king had this temple built.
