UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY
University designed by Sabrié, inspired by France, and Hébrard, inspired by the palace in Beijing's Forbidden City.
"Completed in 1927, the Indochinese university put an end to the relics of classical architecture and inaugurated the emergence of a hybrid art where the Western world sought to meet the Asian universe." (A. Le Brusq, Viêtnam à travers l'architecture coloniale). The plans were by Sabrié, inspired by 18th-century France, and Hébrard, inspired by the imperial palace in Beijing's Forbidden City. Construction of the building was the subject of tensions between the two architects.
