TEMPLE OF KING LE LOI (LE THAI TÔ)
This monument, on the western shore of Lake Hoàn Kiêm, pays tribute to King Lê Loi, whose posthumous name is Lê Thai Tô.
On the western shore of Hoen Kiem Lake, this monument with a copper statue perched on a column in its center, pays tribute to King Le Loi (1385-1433), whose posthumous name is Le Thai Tô. He is considered a national hero for having repelled the invaders. The monument was erected in 1896 (under the reigns of Emperor Thanh Thai, Nguyen Dynasty) and represents the king with a sword in his right hand, in reference to the legend of the recovery of the Magic Sword.
