STATUE OF KING LY THAI TÔ
A large bronze statue of King Ly Thai Tô was unveiled to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the liberation of the capital.
On the eastern shore of the lake, across Rue Dinh Tien Hoàng (the Post Office street) and in the square framed by Rue Lê Lai and Rue Lê Thach leading to the National Bank's large Art Deco building, stands the large bronze statue of King Ly Thai Tô. It was inaugurated on October 7, 2004 in honor of the fiftieth anniversary of the liberation of the capital. Early in the morning, the esplanade attracts tai chi practitioners and dancing couples. In the evening, it's the turn of families and young children on rollerblades or budding footballers.
