One of the many cemeteries where Viet Minh combatants who died in battle, including national heroes, are laid to rest.
One of the many cemeteries in the region where Viet Minh combatants who died in battle are laid to rest, including national heroes such as Tô Vinh Diên, Bê Van Dan and Phan Dinh Giot, known for sacrificing himself by using his body to block the fire of a French battery. The soldiers' graves are topped by the 5-pointed gold star. The fact that many of the graves are anonymous speaks volumes about the intensity of the fighting.
