Command of the GONO (North-West Task Group) was held by Colonel de Castries (1902-1991), who was appointed General during the battle. His Command Post was located in the center of the camp. It is 20 m long and 8 m wide and has 4 compartments. On the evening of May 7, 1954, at 5:30 p.m., after 56 days of fighting, Ta Quoc Luat, commander of 360 Company of the 209 Regiment, 312 Division, seized the position. The red flag with gold star is flying on the roof of the PC. General de Castries will remain in captivity for four months.
