The museum opened on May 5, 2014, to mark the 60th anniversary of the battle. Photos, documents, reconstructions and objects are organized around 4 themes: the 9 years of resistance to French colonialism, from September 1945 to May 1954; the course of the battle; international support for the battle; and the impact of the Diên Biên Phu victory on the world. Upstairs is a gigantic, superb fresco depicting the bloody battle.

Si votre périple vous a arrêté à Dien Ben Phu quelques heures c'est surement en visitant ce musée que vous trouverez la meilleure occupation dans cette ville.

Une visite intéressante lors d'un passage à Dien Bien Phu. Si l'exposition dans le hall du musée n'est pas des plus intéressant, en revanche, le reste de l'exposition est bien conçu : photos et objets d'époque et quelques mises en scène.

Un moment touchant lorsqu'un vietnamien comprenant que nous étions français est venu nous embrasser et nous serrer dans ses bras.
