The Bac Hà temple was built at the end of the 19th century on the order of Emperor Tu Duc to honour two brothers: Vu Van Uyen and Vu Van Mat, who came from the province of Hai Duong in the Red River Delta and who, in the 16th century, pacified the region and the country's markets by building fortifications. The temple festival is celebrated every year on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month to commemorate the anniversary of Vu Van Ma's death.
