The remains of the ancient citadel of Na Lu and the temple of King Le are just 13 km northwest of Cao Bang.
13 km north-west of Cao Bang lie the remains of the ancient citadel of Na Lu, whose earliest foundations date back to the 3rdcentury (earthen construction). During its long life, the citadel was repeatedly destroyed and refurbished by successive rulers. Little or nothing now remains, apart from traces of brick walls, lime kilns and the temple of King Le, built to celebrate the end of the Mac dynasty's usurpation (1527-1533).
