I was told that it was the heart of the country, the soul and essence of South Africa. To go to Johannesburg and not set foot in Soweto was therefore absolutely inconceivable. After using public transport, I joined Carolina, my local guide, because you don't walk alone here. With her, I wandered through the huge slum, between barricaded villas and makeshift houses. The living conditions, the lack of running water and electricity, the children left to their own devices who come to slap you in the hand... I didn't expect such an experience, far from the clichés of postcards. A highlight
