ÉGLISE SAINT-MARY DE COLAMINE-SOUS-VODABLE
Church with seven ancient statues, including a Virgin in Majesty, classified as a historic monument.
In the middle of the fields facing the Lembron valley stands the white silhouette of this church with its square bell tower. Built in the 11th century, it is a Cluniac site - it belonged to the priory of Sauxillanges, the fifth monastery of Cluny. Its architecture is typical of the Romanesque art of Auvergne. Abandoned during the French Revolution, the church rapidly deteriorated in the 20th century. Fortunately, a group of volunteers undertook its renovation in the 1970s. They discovered a treasure: seven ancient statues, including a 12th century Virgin in Majesty, classified as a historical monument.
