Cannon Kopfe is an observation point in the Molopo valley.
Cannon Kopje is a historical milestone. This vantage point on the Molopo valley, where vestiges of the Stone Age have been found, was first used by the Boers in 1882. After removing and then fortifying the site, English troops moved in, repelling an attack by the Boers in 1899. Through a special telephone line, officers could communicate with Baden Powell's headquarters in Mafikeng. It would then be one of the first examples of a telephone used in wartime.
