Kimberley, the capital of South Africa's Northern Cape province, is a tourist destination offering a variety of attractions. The province is famous for its vineyards near Upington, irrigated by the Orange River. Nature lovers can enjoy rafting the Orange River rapids near Vioolsdrif. The extraordinary landscapes of the Kalahari Desert and Augrabies Falls are also must-sees in the region. The diamond mines around Kimberley bear witness to the region's history. The province's main attractions include Augrabies Falls, Richtersveld Transfrontier Park, Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park and the Kalahari Desert. With an area of 372,889 km², the Northern Cape is the largest province in South Africa, but also the least populated, with a population of around 1,103,900. The province's official languages are Afrikaans and Tswana.
