BIG HOLE COMPLEX
This waterlogged plain is the main attraction of the Kimberley region, and a great place for birdwatching.
The main attraction of the area, right on the edge of the largest hole ever dug by man. The 17 hectare mine was abandoned in 1914, after it had produced 145,045,66 carats, or 2,722 kg of pure diamonds. Walk up to the platform suspended above the "Big Hole": absolutely breathtaking. The sight of birds circling in this waterlogged wound is almost eerie. The museum presents a reconstruction of the Kimberley of the great era. You can walk through the old streets under the gaze of wax models in period costumes.

la ville reconstituée donne l'impression d'un véritable retour en arrière meme si c'est tres calme.
