UTHANDO
Uthando is a small NGO of solidarity tourism whose towers are led by the dynamic Xolani Maseko, who, throughout the tour, gives rich information about the history of Cape Town, the creation and situation of the townships today, in English only. He brings small groups into three community projects at Isiseko Community Center, a small childhood centre in Mfuleni where the NGO Uthando lifted 1,8 million Rands to build the new premises and provide the equipment. The following stop leads you to Isikhokelo Primary School primary school, more precisely the community garden next to the school. The project is called Ikhaya Culture Garden, and there are gardens across the townships of Cape Town that provide fruit and vegetables to schools and seeds and seeds to residents who would like to grow their land. A green and social initiative in the townships that, remember, have no tree or vegetation on the dry plains of Cape Flat. It takes great care for the garden to grow! Harvests are centralized and sold in markets. Finally, the last stop is at the centre eKhaya eKasi, an NGO that manages an education and craft centre that promotes the work of women in the township of Khayelitsha. A surprise awaits you! A quality visit rich in meetings and discoveries, very recommended.
