The Green Point area has undergone extensive construction and construction work for the 2010 World Cup. It is from two main avenues that by digging to build a building the workers discovered, in 2003, a mass grave of 2 500 forgotten skeletons over time. They were former slaves, domestic and other underprivileged of the th and th centuries, probably living in Bo Kaap's neighbouring neighbourhood. Inside the memorial, explanatory panels tell their story.
