ERDMANN CONTEMPORARY
Erdmann Contemporary was originally a space created in 1999 to promote the contemporary art "comic" in South Africa through all the media that can be lent to it: paintings, sculptures, prints… The Photographers Gallery is a platform created in 2001 and is interested in images of a new style that repel the limits of the classical photo. You can admire the black and white shoots of the 1950 s of Jurgen Schadeberg. This black of the townships of Jo'Burg immortalized the jazz of the 1950 s in Soweto and Sophiatown, scenes of daily life of that era and even the leaders of the ANC all lad, including Nelson Mandela. A true South African Cartier Bresson combining the photojournalism with the art photo. The gallery recently moved to Gardens and opened an arty bar: the Blah Blah Bar.
