OLD SWELLENDAM
A street where you can admire a harmonious blend of styles, including a Cape Dutch gable, a Byzantine cupola..
After visiting the museum, take Drostdy St opposite and admire the houses at numbers 5 and 14, then turn right into Church, and right again into Hermanus Steyn for a look at numbers 10 and 8. Turn left to the central street and there turn right into Van Oudtshoorn, where you will see Morgenzon and The Residency on the right hand side and Braeside and No 11 on the left. Back in Voortrek, one stop in front of the Dutch Reform church of 1910. Admire the harmonious mix of styles: a Cape Dutch gable, a Byzantine dome, a beautifully sized bell tower.
