GENADENDAL MISSION MUSEUM COMPLEX
Museum showing the printing presses from which the first Afrikaans books were produced.
For twenty years, armed only with his good will, Isaac Balie, a mixed-race historian who graduated from the Afrikaans University of Stellenbosch, gathered all the treasures of Genadendal in this building. Considered until 1994 as a museum for coloured . One discovers what was done in this isolated valley during more than two centuries. You can see the printing presses from which the first books in Genadendal Afrikaans, a new language, came out, differentiated from the high dutch as early as 1816.
