MEIRINGSPOORT COLLAR
Site with picnic areas and a waterfall for swimming.
We learn that our good old geranium finds its origins here, in the crevices of the sandstone blocks. The wild geranium was collected by Hendrik Oldenland in 1689 and sent to Europe, notably to the Duchess of Beaufort. The Meiringspoort plant now flourishes from Reunion Island to Switzerland via the Côte d'Azur. There are picnic areas and a waterfall where you can swim, but be aware that it is forbidden to cut even a blade of grass. This majestic parade leads north to Klaarstroom and the Great Karoo.
