CHURCH AND TUISHUISES
Nice little stroll through the streets near the church, with good examples of the Karoo style.
A nice little walk through the streets near the church offers good examples of the style of the Karoo, the trend "Victorian Karoo". The Dutch Reformed Church, in neo-Byzantine style, was built in 1912 with large sandstone blocks transported by wagon. It is covered with a "Marseilles roof", an appellation whose origin we have not been able to find. The houses on Potgieter, Church and Lourens streets, the famous tuishuises, were occupied at the time by farmers who came to the town to attend the Sunday service.
