FOURTH RAADSAAL
Former neoclassical parliament housing an equestrian statue of General Christiaan de Wet, a hero of the Anglo-Boer war.
The Fourth Raadsaal stands on the city's historic artery, President Brand Street, in front of the Supreme Court of Appeal. The former neoclassical-style parliament of 1893, built in sandstone and brick, was the site of the last People's Assembly of the Orange Free State Republic. An equestrian statue of General Christiaan de Wet, hero of the Anglo-Boer War, still seems to defend the building decorated with large columns and topped with an iron dome. You can enter freely or simply enjoy the beautiful architecture outside.
