AMATHOLE MUSEUM
The old Kaffrarian Museum, renamed but still dusty, deserves the visit. In the animal room, see the Hippopotamus Hippopotamus (empaillée), a well-on-legged female abandoned her pond from Richards Bay in 1929 to arrive in the region in 1931. Meanwhile, Mrs Huberta had been seen during her peaceful tour of Durban and then in Berlin, not far from King William's Town, millenniums on the railway! Unfortunately, she was killed in April 1931. Sacred Huberta! We will also see the very explanatory gallery on the arrival of German settlers, their lives in Africa and their attitude during World War II. It is interesting that some have agreed to join the South African army to fight alongside the Allies in North Africa and Italy, while others preferred to remain neutral. In the adjoining building, also take a look at the works of the Xhosa Gallery.
