THE COCK HOUSE
Delightful inn offering very comfortable rooms in the garden.
Before belonging to Peter and Belinda Tudge, the house, built in 1826, was home to Dr. Atherstone, who authenticated the first diamond, William Cock, the creator of Port Alfred, and André Brink, who wrote here A Dry White Season. The Cock House is now a delightful inn, a nationally acclaimed relay. Rooms are very comfortable in the garden and there is a restaurant with walls covered with period paintings, Norden's, of very good quality open to non-residents for lunch. A self-catering option.
