GANDHI STATUE
The Gandhi statue was made by Madhubhai Patel in Bombay.
Arriving from London in 1893, the young Gandhi soon took an active part in the Anglo-Boer war as a member of the Indian Voluntier Ambulance Corp. In 1913, he led an Indian protest march from Ladysmith to the Transvaal frontier. In front of the town's library stands a statue made by Madhubhai Patel in Bombay, bearing on the plinth the words of the Mahatma: "Where there is pure and strong love for the poor, there is God." At the same time, you can visit the Temple of Vishnu, just around the corner.
