CITY HALL
Magnificent building housing an art gallery, the Durban Science Museum and the library.
The Duke of Connaught laid the foundation stone of this town hall, copied from the one in Belfast, in 1906. It is truly one of the most imposing in the country, and surely one of the most beautiful in Durban. Notice on the main pediment a large sculpture symbolizing unity and patriotism. Several figures can be seen, including a woman in oriental dress and a Zulu warrior with his traditional shield. This magnificent building also houses an art gallery, the Durban Science Museum and even the library.
