A place where every stall offers great heaps of colourful scents and nuts of all kinds, a real pleasure for the eyes and the nose;

The Victoria Street Market, it is hundreds of stalls covered with meat and fish on the side of the food market, shops of multicolored Indian embroidered silk and small shops selling a thousand spices with oriental scents. Each stand offers large piles of colored scents, nuts of all kinds, a real pleasure for the eyes and the nose! One understands while walking the alleys why Durban is commonly called the small India of South Africa: one would really believe in India... but also in the country of the tourists, who walk in this closed place in the middle of the crowd. Unfortunately, there are more and more stalls selling only tourist trinkets and football shirts. There are also many shops selling high quality local Zulu and Xhosa crafts. So keep your eyes peeled! Browse the market for your best gifts and souvenirs. There are aisles and walkways, it's like a labyrinth. Be careful, don't go there too late in the afternoon, the area is moderately safe when the streets are empty. Same thing on weekends, go early in the morning, anyway if you arrive too late, most of the stalls will be closed. Basic rule like anywhere else, but we say it again: beware of pickpockets who are happy to see tourists coming in with a backpack! Also beware of saleswomen who fill a bag with spices as soon as you enter their shops and force you to buy it afterwards.

Decevant
