This museum has been modernized with plasma screens explaining the natural evolution of plants and animals. Some 300,000 items in the "insects and spiders" collection, with a spectacular collection of 700 local spiders, a collection of 50,000 butterflies endemic to the region. Like any natural history museum, the collection of 12,500 mammalian specimens is accompanied by 1,700 examples soaked for eternity in jars filled with formaldehyde.
