Large hotel located in the east of Amsterdam, next to the zoo and the Jewish quarter.

A majestic, modernized hotel. Located to the east of the city, next to the zoo and the Jewish quarter, it's a pleasant, quiet address in an upmarket residential area. You don't necessarily stay here if you want to experience the hustle and bustle of the capital's nightlife, but rather if you want a pleasant stay. The rooms are all very comfortable, bright and with large, soft beds. Family rooms are very practical. Many special offers are available on the website.

The hotel is old, very old and initially you think that translates to luxury.
The rooms are what you can expect from a hotel without stars that charges half (or even a third) the price. Some of the rooms have a musky smell (almost like someone has smoked a cigarette).

What's with the warm temperature at night? You cannot change the temperature because there is no thermostat (as any half decent 4 star hotel should have!).

However, the breakfast is good - the only reason for the 3 stars.

Tip: just climb the stairs, you will be faster than the elevator that works like it was built in 1815.

It's OK. We had to get moved after checking in because our room had several issues, including a loud noise from a pipe, a draught, and cobwebs. The replacement room was full of dust, so they upgraded our room to a standard room (do not get a Cosy room, they are quite bad). The standard room was better but a bit weird. It was over two floors. After using the toilet, you had to leave the toilet room and walk past the best and upstairs to wash your hands. Peeing in the middle of the night was more complex than ever! I just remembered, on Day 1 we were unpacking and the staff let another couple into our room. Thankfully we were decent, but that could have been a disaster. We then asked the staff member who was with them (and who checked us in a hour earlier) to send someone to look at the draught issue as the window wouldn't close properly. He said he would. An hour later nobody came. I went to reception, he very clearly completely forgot. An hour wasted.
