De Bijenkorf (the Beehive) is the most famous department store in the Netherlands. Historically close to the people and rather straightforward in its approach, De Bijenkorf turned to luxury and big brands a few years ago. This means that it has nothing to be ashamed of when compared with similar international brands. Located on Dam Square, de Bijenkorf will appeal by combining international brands with more local or national ones. The St. Nicholas and Christmas departments are also a feast for the eyes. There are several restaurants on site.
