Ceremony commemorating the largest general strike against German occupation and Jewish segregation in the capital.
This two-day general strike was organized by the Dutch Communist Party. It constituted a mass protest against the segregation of the Jewish population and was the largest demonstration against the German occupation. It took place on February 25, 1941, and was violently broken up by the Germans (9 dead and 24 seriously injured). The event is commemorated every year around the Docker statue, with a parade, wreath-laying and speeches.
