NICOLAASKERK - ST. NICHOLAS CHURCH-IN-THE-WALLS
Catholic church that presents the double architectural style generating a rather remarkable set in Amsterdam
This Catholic church (basilica), located just opposite the main railway station, is officially called Saint-Nicolas-dans-les-Murs, since it was built in the 19th century in the very heart of the city. It is dedicated to the city's patron saint, Nicholas. It has the dual advantage of being visible from many parts of the city and of being composed of different architectural styles (neo-Baroque and neo-Renaissance in particular), resulting in a quite remarkable ensemble.
