MAGERE BRUG
The most famous building of the city, built in 1670, the bascule bridge over the Amsterdam River, connecting two banks
The Magere Brug (Skinny Bridge) is undoubtedly the city's best-known landmark, present in many memories. Built in 1670, this bridge over the Amsterdam River is a bascule bridge linking the two banks of the Amstel River at Kerkstraat (between Keizersgracht and Prinsengracht). It is raised several times a day. Equipped with 1,800 LED lights, it's even more photogenic - and, above all, romantic - in the evening. Fun fact: it was immortalized in the James Bond film Diamonds Are Forever.
