EYE - DUTCH FILM LIBRARY
Dutch film library symbol of a new era, carrying the idea of openness and total spectacle, open to the world
Eye, the Dutch film library, is housed in a building that has become an instant classic in the space of a decade, marking a new era for this once-neglected waterfront. The building, a true work of architecture designed by the Viennese firm Delugan-Meissl, resembles a spaceship with bold shapes and varied perspectives.
The building features four cinemas, each with a unique theme and décor, as well as an exhibition hall of over 1,200 square metres, where four temporary exhibitions are held each year. A bookshop completes the offer, making Eye a cinémathèque of a new kind, combining openness, total spectacle and a transgenerational dimension.
In the basement, you can discover futuristic pods for viewing films or experience a "mobile thrill" by projecting a film from your laptop. Upstairs, we highly recommend a coffee in the foyer, with its breathtaking view over the water. The interior, with its steps leading up to the café-restaurant, is transformed into a dynamic forum, while the exterior boasts a magnificent terrace, offering a breathtaking view of Amsterdam when the weather is fine.
Eye houses a rich collection of 46,000 films, 500,000 photos, 41,500 posters, scripts and archives. The museum regularly organizes festivals and themed events, and has become a monumental landmark in the city.

Architecture remarquable.
