Museum of Archaeology of the University of Amsterdam, with a varied and interesting collection
This is the Archaeology Museum of the University of Amsterdam. It takes its name from Allard Pierson, archaeologist and the university's first professor of art history. It presents an impressive collection of antiquities in a didactic manner. The second floor is devoted to the civilizations of the Near East, including Ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia and Iran. The second floor explores the Greco-Roman world, with objects from ancient Greece, the Roman Empire and Etruscan cultures. A museum on a human scale, which can be visited with a guide (booking required).
