HUIS WILLET HOLTHUYSEN
Interesting museum to visit in Amsterdam where the city's history collections are housed during its renovation
The house was built between 1685 and 1687 and lived in by a number of wealthy families. The last of these, the Willet-Holthuysen family, defined the Louis XV style that prevails here. On her death,Mrs. Holthuysen bequeathed the building to the city of Amsterdam, to be turned into a museum in the couple's names. The well-preserved interior is open to the public, and every six months there is an exhibition by a contemporary designer. Behind the house, the large garden has been laid out in the French style: a true haven of peace.
